Which PCL driver should I use?
Two printer drivers are supplied with your printer: one for PCL emulation and the other for PostScript 3 emulation. Choose the PCL driver if you print mainly from general “Office” applications. Choose the PostScript driver if you print mainly from professional DTP and graphics applications or want faster PDF printing.
What is the PCL file format?
The Printer Command Language (PCL) vector format was developed by Hewlett-Packard specifically to allow computers and printers to communicate with each other. The PCL files consist of commands. HP printers parse and decode those commands. The PCL format also supports HPGL plotter files (PLT).
